2019 U.S. Open: Serena Williams defeats Maria Sharapova at US Open
Serena Williams won the match 6–1, 6–1. This is his 19th consecutive win over Mariya Sharapova. So far 22 matches have been played between the two. Sharapova managed to win only two matches.
After the match, Serena Williams was asked about Chair umpire Carlos Ramos in the final last year. To this he said, “I don’t know who she is.”
In fact, last year the US Open final took place between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka. During the match, Ramos warned Serena to take coaching from the box. Serena Williams’ sister Venus also started with a win. He lost to Zheng Sasai of China 6–1, 6–0. The world ranking of Venus is 52. World No-14 Karber defeated France’s Kristina Mladenovic 1-5, 0-6, 6-4. World No. 16 Konta defeated Russia’s Daria Kastakina 6–1, 4–6, 6–2.
