The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), led by Kapil Dev, the captain and former head coach who won Team India World Cup in 1983, will now be able to choose the new head coach of Team India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the green signal to the CAC for the selection of the senior team head coach.
Cricket Advisory Committee Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shanta Rangaswamy have not been found to be in conflict with interests. In such a situation, this trinity will be able to appoint Team India head coach by mid-August.
About this, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) has said, “We have examined the declaration letter. All these are fine.” Team India’s current head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar have been given a 45-day extension for the West Indies tour from August 3 to September 3. During this, they will be directly included in its race.
At the same time, thousands of applications will be considered soon. The committee comprising Kapil Dev, Gaikwad and Shanta Rangaswamy will finalize the head coach. Vinod Rai has said, “The CAC’s decision will be final and it will interview the shortlisted candidates in mid-August.
The tenure of the head coach and the rest of the support staff will be two years.” Significantly, the BCCI had vacated the post of Team India’s Head Coach, Bowling Coach, Batting Coach, Fielding Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Physio and Administrative Manager, the last date of which was 30th July. Meanwhile, the BCCI has received more than 2000 applications for the post of Head Coach.
