International Hockey Federation CEO Thierry Vail issued an official statement saying, “The FIH had received several excellent bids to host these prestigious events. So it was very difficult to decide on one. Since the federation’s primary goal is to spread the game around the world, which definitely requires investment. For this reason, the ability of every bid to generate income was also seen while taking the decision.
Hockey India (HI) President Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed expressed happiness over the achievement saying, ‘We are very happy to host the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. When we took part in the bidding process, we wanted to celebrate 75 years of our country’s independence in a more special way.
Belgium won the last World Cup:
